What is the I-CAN?
The Instrument for the Classification and Assessment of Support Needs (I-CAN) v5 is a support needs assessment, planning and resource allocation tool designed to assess and guide support delivery for people with disabilities including people with mental health concerns. Version 5 of I-CAN has improved user friendliness, flexibility and wider applicability. Research shows I-CAN is a valid, reliable tool.
What is the Social Networking Group?
This program enables a group of people with and without disabilities to come together to learn and share about making and sustaining social connections. The Social Networking Group started in January 2011 as a means of addressing social isolation of people with disabilities. The group aims to promote equality and a sense of belonging for people with disabilities.
Celebrating Two Years
On Friday, 31 October the Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) hosted an Awards Ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of nine audit students who attend lectures at the University of Sydney as part of the Inclusive Education Program (IEP). The IEP facilitates opportunities for people with an intellectual disability who would like to experience university life through auditing (= studying for interest).
